Terms of Service

Last updated: September 2026. Version 0.1.

These terms govern your use of TIMLAR, a safety-session system operated by TIMLAR (“we”, “us”, “our”). By using the app or this website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use TIMLAR.

1. What TIMLAR is

TIMLAR is a communication and escalation layer between you and the people you trust. It is not an emergency service, a substitute for calling the police or an ambulance, or a guarantee of safety. Core safety features are free. TIMLAR is not an always-on tracker and does not collect location data outside an active session.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must review and agree to these terms on your behalf. You are responsible for ensuring that any trusted contacts you add have consented to receive session notifications from you.

3. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You must not share your account with others. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that we reasonably believe are being used to harm others.

4. Acceptable use

You must not use TIMLAR to:

  • track, monitor, or surveil another person without their knowledge and consent;
  • send false distress signals or abuse the escalation system;
  • harass, threaten, or harm any person;
  • violate any applicable law or regulation.

5. Service availability

TIMLAR is provided on a best-efforts basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Location accuracy, notification delivery, and connectivity depend on your device, network, and platform. Degraded, stale, and offline states are communicated explicitly in the app. You should not rely on TIMLAR as your sole safety measure.

6. Intellectual property

All content, software, and branding in TIMLAR are owned by or licensed to us. You may not copy, modify, or distribute them without our written permission.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TIMLAR is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any loss, injury, or damage arising from your use of or inability to use TIMLAR, including in situations where a session fails to notify a trusted contact.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or by email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

10. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to hello@timlar.com.
