Someone chose you as a person they trust. While their safety session is open, the link shows where their phone is, how recent that is and what state they are in. You do not need an account or an app.
Keep the link private. Anyone who has it sees the same page.
What the states mean
- Started a safety session: a session is open and nothing is wrong.
- May need help: a flag was raised, by them or by a missed check-in. Contact them.
- Needs help: they need help or did not answer a check-in. Contact them now.
- Needs help now: they marked an emergency. Contact them now. If you cannot reach them, call your local emergency number.
What you can do
- Call or message them. The page shows how recent the location is.
- The reply buttons record that you have seen the page or that you are going there. They do not send a message to the person, and their phone does not show them yet.
- If you are worried, call your local emergency number (112 in Europe). TIMLAR does not contact emergency services.
If the phone goes quiet
If TIMLAR receives nothing from the phone for 10 minutes while a session is open, you get a text message and the page says so. TIMLAR cannot tell whether the phone is off, out of battery or without signal.
The page shows when the phone was last heard from, where it was, and its battery level at that moment if the phone reported one.
The copy button turns those details into plain text you can give to the emergency services. If the phone comes back, you get a short message and the page updates by itself.
How long the link works
The link works while the session is open and for 7 days after it ends, so you can still see where the person went. After that the page says it has expired.
What we cannot promise
- A location can be old or off by many metres. A last known position is not where the person is now.
- Text messages and updates depend on the phone, the mobile network and your own signal. Delivery is not guaranteed.
- TIMLAR is not an emergency service and does not replace calling one.
- If the page does not load, try again in a minute and contact the person directly.
Stop receiving messages
Reply STOP to a TIMLAR text message to stop receiving them. The person who added you can also remove you.
